Information provided on 6th March 2020
We have been informed by SAFRA on 5th March that the Ministry of Health (MOH) announced eight confirmed Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases that are linked to a private dinner function held at Joy Garden Restaurant (Level 3 of SAFRA Jurong) on 15th Feb 2020 which is 20 days ago. SAFRA Jurong had earlier assisted MOH in providing the necessary details on the attendees of the event for contact tracing.
Other Information given by SAFRA includes the high hygiene practice from time to time by Joy Garden Restaurant since the outbreak of COVID-19 in Singapore. As a precautionary measure, the restaurant along with all other possible areas which might have been visited by the patients will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected again last night 5th March, with strict adherence to guidelines from the National Environment Agency.
Prior to this incident, SAFRA management had stepped up several precautionary measures with effect from 10th Feb 2020 due to MOH’s shift of the Disease Outbreak Response System Condition (DORSCON) alert level from yellow to orange.
The precautionary measures taken by SAFRA management were shown as below (Our KEC & Dancepointe are following strictly as well) :
Mandatory temperature taking and declaration of travel history, health and contact details for contact tracing, by all visitors to SAFRA clubs and activities with strict entry requirements. All employees are also required to take their temperatures twice daily, and seek medical attention and stay home if they have any flu-like symptoms or are unwell.
Increased frequency of cleaning and disinfection of facilities and frequently touched surfaces, as well as provision of hand sanitisers at common areas.
Health advisories were displayed at all SAFRA clubs and emailed to employees/members to encourage good personal hygiene practices to keep our community safe.
According to the information we received from SAFRA management, all confirmed cases that gained entry to SAFRA Jurong on 15 February 2020 had cleared the mandatory temperature checks conducted at the entrance of the club. They did not have fever, nor exhibited any flu-like symptoms. They also did not have any recent travel history to Mainland China within the past 14 days of their visit to the club as stated within their declaration. ALL staff who were on duty on that day are well and did not report any fever or flu-like symptoms in the last 14 days. Our KEC staff & teachers are ALL in good health too.
Being a Government-linked organization, SAFRA Jurong will initiate to close the club if there is significant risk and we will definitely inform all parents. As per today, the SAFRA Management has announced that we are safe to continue all activities with the current measures.
SAFRA Jurong will also provide the latest updates at appropriate timings, in tandem with close monitoring of the situation. Once again, the safety and well-being of SAFRA tenants, employees, NSmen and the community remain SAFRA's utmost priority.
